Old Fair Oaks Bridge near Sacramento

This bridge was built to connect Fair Oaks to the railroad spur in Folsom and was completed in 1901 for $30,000. In 1907 the bridge was washed out twice and rebuilt. The first motorized vehicle crossed the bridge in 1915. It was closed to traffic in 1967. It is now a wonderful pedestrian bridge that connects to a major bike pathway.

My daughter and her family live in Sacramento. I became acquainted with a neighbor, Woodie Spiers. He found out about my interest in bridges through my website and then took me to the Old Fair Oaks Bridge.
