Railroads

I have always enjoyed railroads. My grandmother’s house was right next to the station and switch yard in Yates City, Illlinois. My grandfather had been the section foreman. I have fond memories of the steam engines being parked along the track. Smoke and noise was a problem, though.

I always watch for train rides while on vacation.  Anyway, I have various railroad collectibles including date nails which were used to note the year that track ties were installed.
